Hello, I am sorry but I am not Lynn… I am Shelly…
<<<NOW FOR THE FUN>>>
THE PLEATING BOARD (sorry no Yardage given, It all depends on the finished size you want. Any size goes)
You’ll need: Heavy weight, stiff, very thick interfacing (like for hat brims)*. 1/2 inch polyester sew in boning, the web style not the covered type (I purchased a roll on line very cheap). Muslin, or other fabric (optional)
Cut the interfacing the size and shape you need (this is the backing). square, long rectangle, even a fan. Cut the boning into strips the length needed to fit your board (in the direction you want your pleats to go).
Place the first strip of boning even with the bottom (or side edge of a fan) of the backing, then sew the far end. Leaving the bottom (outer) edge free (a fin). Now place the next fin, over laping the first fin 1/4 inch, sew the far edge. Repeat this process until the backing is covered. Trim off the ends of the fins even with the backing. This will give you 1/2 inch deap pleats 1/4 inch apart if every fin is used. You may have to taper the length of the fins on the fan to reduce bulk at the narrow end. ITS READY TO USE. You can do left and right facing fins or diaginal fins.
* I used double sided fusible backing and then covered it (front and back) with muslin. This step is optional.. If you do no use fusible backing you don’t need to cover it if you dont wnat to.
If you have any questions let me know… Thanks… Shelly
